What our Program Partners say:

“Given the many attributes I have for which to praise Land by Hand, it is a real challenge to try to keep to a brief endorsement of the personalized, multi-faceted, judicious learning experience that Cody provided the adult learners in my community education class. He expertly guided us from our starting class last winter through many stages to our final class this fall: from identifying the edible desires of our hearts to space designing using the principles of permaculture to harvesting / storing and eating. Although I could share many details about his bioethics, inexhaustible knowledge, and “placemaking” acumen, I think people should also know that Cody is a patient, adaptable, inclusive teacher-guide. The students in my class spoke three different languages, and had little experience growing their own food. Cody was a patient and inclusive teacher – balancing his passion for permaculture with his considerations of learners’ goals and experience levels. Also, he was very adaptable as he supported the language acquisition goals that I had for the group.  I witnessed my students grow in knowledge and confidence while enjoying the rich experience that Cody created. I look forward to the next opportunity to team up with Cody.”

Terrisa, Adult Basic Education Instructor

“We were fortunate to receive a family gardening grant that allowed us to collaborate with Land by Hand in our Adult Family Learning classes for the 2017 growing season. Cody & Megan instructed 3 separate classes of parents and children on designing, planting, maintaining, harvesting, preserving, and cooking from 2 different school garden sites that they had designed and built for us. They were very prepared and organized with great communication skills and follow up. The majority of parents had not had much gardening experience before this program and several were dual language learners. They were able to instruct all learners regardless of their native language. The families throughly enjoyed the project and are already organizing themselves to plan for the next growing season! Cody & Megan are wonderful teachers with big green thumbs that we can all learn from. I would not hesitate to recommend them for any future projects.”
