Our Ingredients

Our sourcing is quite simple; is it local, responsibly grown, & delicious?

2017 Season Update

In the 2017 season, we decided to focus more on our Education programs & projects. We may continue to offer some of these items and many more in the future!

What we Grow

We utilize two growing spaces for most of our food & craft; one within Minneapolis, one about 40 miles northwest of Minneapolis. Our growing practices are heavily influenced by the principles & ethics of Permaculture. Learn more here >

Market Garden |  Minneapolis MN

Our market garden produces a wonderful variety of fruit, herbs & vegetables. To name a few we have Currants, Rhubarb, Raspberries, Basil, Dill, Parsley, Mint, Fennel, Chili Peppers, Beets, Beans, Carrots, Cucumbers, Zucchini, Radish & more. We grow as much of our ingredients as possible where we live. That equates to fresher, more delicious, and nutrient dense food.

Antelope Food Forest |  More info >

Although less than a year old, the beginnings of our food forest is already producing thanks to some simple design strategies. The goal is establishing slower growing species of perennial fruit & nut shrubs, herbs, fungi, and vegetables that are regionally resilient and low-maintenance over time. Until the canopy of these larger trees & shrubs fills in, we can grow many faster-growing crops in between like Garlic, Radish, Turnips, Peas, Squash, Beans, Corn, Sunflowers, Rhubarb, Asparagus, Raspberries, and more. Most of these crops grow in abundance thanks to our rich soil and end up in our preserved foods like relishes, pickles, ferments, jams, vinegars, simple syrups, & more. The beginning of this project is relatively small, but as we observe & learn, we hope to adjust, replicate, & expand our design.

What others Grow

While much of our food forest grows into production, we source large amounts of beautiful fruit from small pick-your-own farms near the Twin Cities area within 100 miles or less like Little Hill Berry Farm.

We choose to source from fruit growers who use certified organic or synthetic chemical-free growing practices. Walking around their farms, you can tell…there are honey bees, ladybugs, & swallowtail butterflies flying around as you pick your fruit.

Aside from fruit, we strive to source additional ingredients like lemons, sugar, and ginger from organic, chemical/pesticide-free, & Non-GMO producers. We support our local co-ops & wholesale distributors who connect us with these regenerative growers around the world.
